In the end, it was the Tuskers (whose boys soccer team just won a sectional title, and girls team also reached the final) who derailed the previously unbeaten Bears, 42-35, earning a spot in next Saturday's 7 p.m. championship game at Mahopac High, where they'll face No. 1 Yorktown, an easy winner over Rye.
The offense of Somers (8-1) proved too much for Brewster to handle, with the visitor racing out of the gate to leads of 21-0 and 28-7.
Brewster (8-1) clawed its way back, with Jack Guida and the Bears closing to within a single score more than once.
But each time Somers had an answer, and it usually involved Matt Pires (three TDs) or Messiah Horne (two TDs).
Conor Dignan returned a punt for a TD for Brewster, and Jack Guida had two TDs and 58 yards rushing, and threw for a pair of touchdowns.
